Open to opportunities

John Shearin

Product manager who builds AI tools and data products.
Biomedical engineering background. Founder of Staqc.

What I’m looking for

I want to work with AI native, data first people.

Teams where agentic coding tools, LLMs, and modern AI workflows are the default way of working. Engineers and product people who already operate that way and expect the same from everyone else. I want to move fast and build modern experiences. B2B and enterprise software that feels as good as the best consumer products.

Data is important to me because I want to build products that use what they collect. Insights, personalization, and ML features that improve the actual user experience. Keeping user data and putting it to work is how you create something people keep coming back to.

Optimistic and motivated collaborators. High ownership. Fast loops. An environment that feels closer to building a company than maintaining one.

Experience

JAGGAER

2021 – Present · Raleigh

Senior Product Manager, Research Materials Management
Previously Product Manager (AI Chat) and Senior Product Owner

  • Own the product for a pharmaceutical materials management system covering inventory, procurement, chemical informatics, and the AI capabilities on top of it.
  • Built and shipped a RAG system so people can query complex product documentation in plain language.
  • Defined the AI Chat and agent platform that guides users through procurement workflows and can take actions on their behalf.
  • Write the requirements, prototype the interfaces (often with LLMs), and work directly with architects on integrations across codebases and data lakes.
  • Ship analytics that customers actually use. Python dashboards, Pendo, and the SQL that turns inventory data into decisions.
  • Use AI coding tools regularly to stand up proof of concepts and agent workflows before committing the broader team.

Epic

2018 – 2020 · Madison

Technical Services Analyst — Surgery Optime & Anesthesia

  • Primary product person for several hospital IT teams implementing and optimizing Epic’s Surgery application.
  • Used Python to define and track KPIs on perioperative workflows, then fed that data into prioritization.
  • Owned the customer side of an AI/ML Surgical Site Infection risk tool. Ran demos and interviews, then turned clinical feedback into requirements for data science and engineering.
  • Helped drive the web migration of the surgical workflow tool by looking at actual usage and customer impact instead of feature lists.

Side project

Staqc Founder

Health tracking and community platform for supplements, diet, fitness, symptoms, and biomarkers. Log with natural language, see personal correlations, and learn from the experiences of people like you.

I built it because I wanted a place where people could collaborate on evidence and anecdata based insights instead of relying on scattered advice and marketing claims. Same core idea as everything else I care about: collect the data, keep it, and use it to make better decisions.
